Sunny meadows...

March 2025 Newsletter

Here is an update on my art journey….

Latest on website!

Mistletoe and Berries has now been sold! If you ever want a piece of art similar to one that is sold, please contact me. I will not be able to recreate it exactly, but it can have a similar design.

My new art guide Number 2 is available - see details below.

More waxy, inky floral art to be made available for sale very soon……Mother’s Day is coming up and a small original piece of art may be the perfect gift!

I see flowers in everything!

I enjoy creating my abstract botanical designs based on the organic shapes and wrinkles created as I dye my tissue paper. This is a process called Extractionism, where I interpret my design out of the abstract visual shapes created as I dye and stick down my tissue paper. I never know exactly what composition will emerge! It’s an exciting way to create my unique art, using intuition, creativity and personal interpretation. My new Art Guide gives you an example of this method to try - see below.

New Art Guide Number 2

Available under the Guides section of my website, my latest free resource shows you step by step how to hand dye tissue paper to create a landscape with trees. Materials and equipment needed are listed, along with step by step instructions and photographs. Let the tissue paper wrinkles guide your design! I hope you enjoy trying this out.

In the Studio

I have been working on sunny meadowscapes in preparation for an art course I will be teaching locally, later this year. What do you think?

I have also been creating lots more hand-dyed tissue designs - each is unique and can be used as wrapping paper or in a wide range of art projects. See examples on my instagram page: www.instagram.com/gillieb60

Book update!

Search Press, my publisher are busy designing my book cover and have scheduled photo shoots for my projects for this month. I hope to see a draft edit in April. Very exciting! This book will describe how to hand dye tissue paper will also include ten exciting projects on how to use the hand dyed tissue paper. The launch date is set for February 2026! Only one year to go! Keep following for more info…

best wishes,
